At TUI Travel we want to attract the right people, but we want to make sure that we develop and keep our existing talent too.
We have a wide range of in-house opportunities and programmes available to all of our colleagues and we put significant effort into giving our people the chance to enjoy a fulfilling career with TUI Travel. In many cases we will support our people in gaining professional qualifications relevant to their role and we also aim to provide opportunities for internal secondments where appropriate.
Whilst our individual businesses have a range of development opportunities tailored to meet their specific needs, we also have initiatives that are delivered across our Group of companies, two of which are the Horizons Leadership Programme and the Global Responsible Leadership Programme.
Horizons Leadership Programme
Horizons is our internal leadership programme designed to develop potential business leaders of the future for TUI Travel. The successful programme consists of modules to develop leadership skills but also to give participants a broader understanding of the essential business areas within our Group. The end result is sound leadership skills, an excellent understanding of our business and an ability to influence business strategy at the highest level. Not only does Horizons give participants the confidence to aim for new and broader opportunities, it also increases their profile within the wider TUI organisation. Many of those involved in the programme have been given the chance to further their careers in new, exciting and rewarding ways.
Global Responsible Leadership Programme
Our Global Responsible Leadership Programme in Thailand is an experiential development programme that is delivered in partnership with our Group Learning and Development team together with companies from our Specialist & Activity Sector. The aim is for leaders to gain further insight into their leadership styles and build contacts across the Group whilst at the same time making a contribution to a local community. The programme is closely aligned to our sustainable development agenda and delegates have the opportunity to work with a local community with building projects, help with school activities and provide advice to local businesses.
The programme not only develops leadership skills by taking people out of their comfort zone, but also enables them to appreciate that local businesses may have different views on how success can be achieved. In this way, leaders develop empathy and recognition of the need to adapt their style for different cultural settings. It is a great opportunity for our people to develop as leaders and is also a chance for us to give something back to a community in one of the countries where we operate.
