We believe that customer demand for more sustainable holidays will grow. Our customers are becoming increasingly aware of sustainable development issues and expect businesses – including their holiday company – to be tackling the issues that matter to them.
We know from experience that effective management of environmental and social impacts not only saves money, but provides a better customer experience – the correlation between our customers’ holiday satisfaction scores and the best-performing hotels in the sustainability audit programme is evidence of this.
In response to this demand, 86%* of TUI Travel businesses confirm that they are communicating with customers on sustainable development issues. 75%* of TUI Travel businesses currently offer a carbon offset to customers and, in 2008/2009, we developed Groupwide communications guidance on this issue.*Weighted by employee numbers.
